NA-R-ALA and Hair Loss

I see a lot of companies selling their R-ALA/NA-R-ALA products 'optimized' with Biotin. It seems many people believe hair loss/brittle nails is a side effect of R-ALA and that biotin can mitigate these side effects.
I'm having trouble finding any evidence supporting or refuting this. Does anyone have knowledge or experience with this?

They are probably referencing this study: https://academic.oup.com/jn/article/127/9/1776/4728960
That shows that ALA can compete with biotin for a couple transporters/enzymes. That is interesting information that I was not aware of. I will have to do some more research on it. I have not really had anyone report hair/nail issues on ALA, nor have I ever had issues with using it daily. However, perhaps bringing out a biotin supplement would be a good idea for the people that might be experiencing it.
