Terrible smell from bottle of caffeine/l-theanine capsules

I ordered a caffeine/l-theanine supplement from Nootropics Depot on Amazon. As soon as I opened the bottle I was hit with a really strong stench. The best way I can describe it a strong vinegar smell, mixed with the smell of paint, and it isn't going away.
Is this normal? I've tried a couple of the capsules now and they were fine. It's just really weird. Could this happen from being left out in the heat for too long? It's been quite hot out recently so maybe it was sitting out in the heat at the warehouse or something.
FWIW, the packaging envelope was also opened when I found it at my door yesterday but the bottle was still sealed.

When I worked for my last company that specialized in essential oils and flavorings and stuff we tried to use Amazon multiple times. But we found that they didn't have standards for temperature/humidity. It sucks because using Amazon means reaching a lot more customers, but at the same time they ruined tens of thousands of dollars of our products that we had to end up replacing. Just like in every business, no one's going to do your job as well as you do..... could you imagine the cost of trying to control the environment and those massive warehouses?

I agree. It's a massive hassle to work with Amazon every month, and the fees and costs go up and up. We randomly have products pulled and disapproved for months at a time. We have them screw up intake of shipments, and reroute thousands of units back to us, which makes us run out of stock. We can't get support on anything. It's a huge pain in the ass.
