Terrible smell from bottle of caffeine/l-theanine capsules

I ordered a caffeine/l-theanine supplement from Nootropics Depot on Amazon. As soon as I opened the bottle I was hit with a really strong stench. The best way I can describe it a strong vinegar smell, mixed with the smell of paint, and it isn't going away.

Is this normal? I've tried a couple of the capsules now and they were fine. It's just really weird. Could this happen from being left out in the heat for too long? It's been quite hot out recently so maybe it was sitting out in the heat at the warehouse or something.

FWIW, the packaging envelope was also opened when I found it at my door yesterday but the bottle was still sealed.

Maybe the bottle was left out in the heat at an Amazon warehouse and the plastic off-gassed? I am having my team see if we have any of that lot at our facility. The A at the end of the lot number denotes it was an Amazon lot, but we should have retained units from it. I'll see if I can smell anything when opening the bottle. Our warehouses are all air conditioned, but I can't say how all the Amazon ones are. It's been insanely hot here this week. What part of the country are you in?
