Interesting about the different preferences (and everything else of course).
Why did the white kind become the norm? Was it just because the dark kind was suspected to have impurities? Do most people prefer the white? Was Olmifon white adrafinil (it looks that way from Google Images)?

The process that leads to the white is quicker, and yields more consistent particle sizes, which is usually what you want. Plus, white is generally what people expect from powders. They think that color is from impurities. So generally you want to use the quickest process that leads to the highest yields, and that is the one that makes the white.
