Invest in a sleep tracker

These things aren't too bad at tracking deep and rem sleep. Plus they provide a way for you to see what your patterns are when it comes to sleep and how they change when you're taking student drugs.

It has recently helped me when my body decided it didn't like ashwagandha and I got very low deep sleep, after 4 days of discontinued usage I'm back to normal. Otherwise I would have never known that this was a problem until it got too bad to the point where I couldn't ignore it.

I knew it was a problem because after years of observing my ~~sorry~~sleep (typo- though it is not the best due to CPAP and sleep apnea) quality, the change was obvious, and I slowly introduced new drugs so I had a better idea of the root cause.

We are really bad at trying to figure out how healthy we are unless it's really obvious. These trackers provide an imperfect but objective measure we can use over time to check in and see how we're doing sleep-wise.

The Oura ring isn't as accurate as direct EEG measurement for assessing sleep though. And it doesn't have the possibility of using bio-feedback to improve sleep (audio-EEG).

We don't get the audio EEG biofeedback here in the US, unfortunately. It's region-locked. That's because the FDA is protecting us. Thanks FDA!

And true, you don't get the EEG data. However, I compared Oura and Dreem data for weeks, and Oura was very accurate. So the extra verification using EEG was not worth the hassle of having to put on the headband every night and constantly start and stop my nights on the app. Oura's data was accurate enough for me. I can't express how easy Oura is to live with, and how annoying it was after a month of using Dreem 2 every night. Just way too much work for not much benefit.
