Triple strength fish oil taste
Original post in this thread

I've just received some Triple Strength fish oil that's taken a very long time to arrive, and probably spent a few days exposed to higher temps.
I've tasted it for rancidity, and it does taste of fish, but it's not overpowering.
Anyway, could someone who is in possession of some do the same taste test and confirm?
Many thanks in advance!

I agree, I too have learned to trust my instincts - I'm on a raw meat / animal products diet and that experience has also taught me that if something is very wrong with the food, my taste buds will detect it. I'm sure it's possible to mask danger with excessive seasoning, that's how food poisoning happens.
I'm still taking care of maintaining freshness because fresh is better tasting, that was my concern with the fish oil too, not so much danger but optimal quality.

For sure. Fish oil will always have a fishy taste, unless it has been deodorized in a separate process. Normal fish flavor is not a problem. Rancid fish oil tastes like shit. You would be able to tell. It's like when milk is spoiled. You immediately know by the smell. The only way to empirically test for oxidation is using the peroxide test that we do, and that happens on every single batch of fish oil we approve.
