Triple strength fish oil taste
Original post in this thread

I've just received some Triple Strength fish oil that's taken a very long time to arrive, and probably spent a few days exposed to higher temps.
I've tasted it for rancidity, and it does taste of fish, but it's not overpowering.
Anyway, could someone who is in possession of some do the same taste test and confirm?
Many thanks in advance!

Thank you! I was hoping I'd get a response from the man himself :)
From searching around some people have the idea that fish oil shouldn't taste of fish at all - I doesn't make sense to me but hey... Maybe it's to do with "molecularly distilled" fish oil?
I took a large quantity (I megadose) and as usual very little to no fish burps, I figured if anything was wrong that kind of quantity would make me sick, but quite the contrary, I feel great and (I don't know what explains it), much better than other brands that I've bought from recommendations.
Anyway thanks, as always I'm keeping it all in the fridge even though I consume it very rapidly.

There is a lot of bullshit on the internet about things. I have seen the stuff about fish oil not supposed to be tasting like fish, and I just shake my head... It's made from fish!!! Of course it should taste like fish! You can deodorize the oil, but that is a separate process. Our EZ Mega 3 uses that process, but that is totally separate from its peroxide values. The only way to empirically test for oxidation levels is peroxide testing. Also, some fish taste more or less fishy. So the species of fish you use in the oil affects its smell and taste. One fish oil with a 2 mEq/Kg peroxide value could taste totally different than another oil made from a different species, even if that one also has 2 mEq/Kg. There is a lot more to fish oil taste than its oxidation levels. The human nose and tongue can detect things in the ppb levels. For volatile organics, we can actually smell in the parts per trillion! Our senses are pretty damn accurate.

I think a lot of people underestimate our sense of smell and taste. We can pick up on a lot more than most realize. Getting into the parts per trillion is expensive machinery.
