Edit: see MYASD’s comment reply. The person who initially posted this link I reacted to was incorrect. These substances won’t be affected in the supplement industry.

read "list of compounds being affected” listed by another commenter, here

After reading the comments (without reading the political unproductive ones), it is clear through a simple link-and-scroll-down, people think that this is an attack on the supplement industry, nootropics and nature’s remedies.

Is this about noting these as therapeutic drugs from compounding pharmacies, or, about taking them as supplements from the supplement industry?

I think we should all focus on and consider this huge part...

/u/misteryouaresodumb, you know I always hate to bother but I will always ask if I find it necessary for clarification: can you elaborate on what is really going on, here?

Is this about

* affecting the supplement industry

or

* affecting therapeutic drug preparations being offered by practitioners and compounding pharmacies?

Is this list of supplements actually under the peptide ban being written about (or ... even being questioned anyway, given that it is given in a comment here as the “list of substances” in the “potential ban”, under consideration, in this thread)?!

Because, re: the linked post, on the second page, these aren’t peptides. Thes…

This is an action by the FDA regarding compounding pharmacies. It does not have an effect on the supplement industry. This is changing the law that the FDA is using to regulate the compounding industry. Before they were operating under an exemption to the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic act. Now the FDA is saying they will be regulated under section 351 of the Public Health Service Act. So the FDA is clarifying their regulatory guidance based on the laws in the PHS act. It's all just legal shit. The FDA's authority is given by Congress. That authority is based in settled law. The FDA creates guidance for industries based off those laws, but the actual enforcement authority comes from Congress. This change in guidance is merely stating that the FDA is using the laws in section 351 of the Public Health Service Act now for compounding pharmacies, instead of section 503A of the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act like they were before.

Dipeptide analogs of piracetam, noopept, sulpiride,... exhibiting far superior potency and specificity to their putative mechanisms.

They are not talking about analogs of noopept. Noopept IS the analog they are discussing. The other compounds are not analogs of piracetam, either. They took inspiration from some of the functional groups, but they are V
