I was angry when I wrote the title but calmed down as I was writing this as I reflected on my own experience falling into a lot of these traps and misconceptions. I should start keeping a tally. It's like the Matrix. The prophecy has been fulfilled, and we can start over again. Neo will arise once again from a random Redditor, and in a couple years he will reach the Architect again to complain about everyone being reckless and there being no scientific data for nootropics. Then the cycle will repeat until Neo finds his Trinity and breaks the cycle. Then we can all fight the pharma Sentinels who will attack us in our nootropics stronghold deep by the core.
