Shelf Life Of ND Nootropics
Original post in this thread

I came across a handful of open nootropics like racetams from ND that I thought were lost during my move. I’ve noticed bloating on some capsules but others seem I believe okay.
They got to be atleast 6 months old some newer and other bottles look even older possibly near a year.
Do you think it’s okay taking these? I’m wanna make sure I’m not taking it if it’s lost its use.
What they were answering

Good. I kinda have a lot of crap that’s old and stored well and then plenty that isn’t stored as well.
Yes, I’ve thought of the increased weight from extra moisture before.
My tub of your 8:1 is now like scraping away at a hardened puck of weird play-doh that I have to try and get shavings off of with a steel scoop. Lmao. It’s super strange since it’s kinda sponges, but also hard and resists having any part of it come off, so the need for working away at it to get random sized crumbles.
This is after it hardened in the past and I already ground it down and put it back in the tub as a fine powder.
Definitely getting caps of that if I ever get more.

We have been doing long-term stability testing of our stuff on our UPLC, and have yet to find any significant degradation in any product; even after years and years of sitting. I think things are much more stable than most people realize. The clumping issue is more of an annoyance than anything.
The lion's mane 8:1 is probably the worst one for clumping. It just makes a hard mass. We are going to be moving to HDPE instead of PETE soon, which should help with moisture permeation. We also might consider adding a carrier/excipient to the powder to make it easier to store. It is just that most people hate any additives at all to their powders. Even so, usability is kind of more important than having nothing added. So we likely will do that at some point.
