Thanks! I remember reading about China’s infrastructure and how it makes for really easy production. I believe I was reading about Apple and how it would work if all of Apples production was based in the U.S. It didn’t work well and things would be astronomically expensive

It's also an expertise thing. China has a ton of experienced synthetic chemists that are capable of taking on projects. Finding people capable in the United States is a challenge, since there are a lot less opportunities for experience in chemical synthesis here. Even if you find someone capable here, they are extremely expensive and are very rarely willing to take on new projects like those in China are. I can have our labs in China take risks on new compounds that I would never be able to talk a US lab into. Anyone capable in the US is probably already working for a large pharma company.
