I have frequently read online that Emoxypine (also known as Mexidol) possesses the ability to repair and reverse brain damage from previous alcohol abuse.
People who affirm this effect usually refer to the following section of this study:
Anti-alcohol action. Mexidol has a pronounced anti-alcohol action exerting a therapeutic effect on the disorders caused by chronically used ethanol, on the abstinence syndrome and the acute alcohol intoxication. Within the chronic experiment young eugamic mice (females) beginning with the age of three months have been used 15% ethanol solution instead of drinking water for 5 months. The amount of ethanol used by one mouse in a day was 0.56-0.75 ml (absolute alcohol equivalent). Mexidol was used simultaneously with ethanol in the dose 20-25 mg/day. The examination of the animals' behavior 2 weeks after the 5-month ethanol introduction revealed significant and statistically reliable worsening of learning and memory abilities during the development of active avoidance reflex in the shuttle box. Perhaps u/MisterYouAreSoDumb could offer some insight, I think I remember Ceretropic selling Emoxypine before they closed down.

Emoxypine is great! We still offer it on ND. It increases the binding affinity of GABA, and is a great antioxidant. It's also been in very short supply over the past year, due to some labs shutting down.
