So, as you all know (or should know since this is possibly the biggest nootropic community in the world and our industry is currently under attack in the US specifically) the FDA is trying to ban Picamilon as a dietary ingredient, with the help of Dr. Cara Welch
It is of my personal opinion that they have targeted a somewhat less popular substance in the nootropic market (Picamilon), which is completely harmless, has human studies on the net indicating extremely good tolerability and a low incidence of adverse events (in Russian), for the sole purpose of setting a precedent in order to ban and regulate our wide selection of beloved nootropics into oblivion.
I have issues regarding the legality of the definition used to qualify Picamilon as a synthetic drug. If Picamilon were truly a new substance all together, would it not have the effects of a new subtance rather than simply enhance the effects of 2 very well known and approved ingredients (Niacin and GABA). It seems like the big pharma people have their lobbyists putting these things together on an on-going basis. Every time one is defeated the next one pops up, like clockwork. I can remember these bills showing up yearly since at least the 90s.
Is there some kind of permanent supplement lobbying organization that we can donate to that can build a permanent staff of experts, advocates and lobbyists to oppose this garbage? It seems the anti-supplement lobby has a staff that gets up every morning and tries to figure out how to get all supplements banned. We should support an organization that gets up every day and figures out how to expand health freedom and how to oppose these bills.

You'll never raise as much money as the pharmaceutical lobbies, unfortunately. There are supplement lobbies. They are not run as I would run them, though. Sometimes they are fighting the right fight for the wrong reasons. A lot of multi-level marketing supplement companies donate to them, to try and keep the FDA out of their affairs. While that does have the side effect of protecting other good companies, the actual motive behind them is something I don't support. So it is hard. We need a real honest lobby that can fight for our rights for the correct reasons.
