Smart drugs are still primitive, Sensi says. They temporarily alter multiple neurotransmitters, so they aren't very specific. A better approach, he suggests, could be to develop drugs that would promote nerve-cell growth or the rewiring of the brain, inducing changes that would permanently enhance thinking.
So much ignorance. Why do people talk about things like informed experts, when they are just as uninformed as the general public? You looked up Adderall, Ritalin, and Modafinil, and now you understand the state of the Nootropics space? Please... Gee, I wonder if there is something out there that promotes nerve cell growth? Hmmmm, perhaps something that affects NGF, BDNF, and CNTF. Too bad we are too primitive to have anything like that, though...
