Is Tianeptine Sulfate addictive/habit forming like the sodium salt?

Will I have problems suddenly discontinuing tianeptine sulphate? I was thinking that maybe the habit-forming properties of tianeptine sulphate were minimized by its improved pharmacokinetics, but I wasn't sure. I appreciate any insight. Thanks!

I've read that the sulphate salt requires a much larger dose. I started out with 40mg BID, but lately I've been taking 50mg BID. Is this too much? Thanks

There is no real recommended dose, as we don't have accurate human pharmacodynamic data. Usually people start at 25mg, though. A single 40mg dose of sulfate is equivalent to (3) 12.5mg dosages of sodium. The recommended dosage of sodium is 12.5-25mg 3x per day. So taking 50 BID of the sulfate is higher, but not crazy.
