Hi
So i ordered some piracetam almost a week ago which im still waiting for and Ive finally had an appointment with my doctor. He told me to not try piracetam as it has caused people damage. He says side effects include insomnia and bleeding in the brain and heamorraghes.
Has anyone who has used piracetam had any side effects ever. have any of you, once stopping piracetam, felt that you cant concentrate or focus as much as you could before you ever took any. and could you also state your country please, if you dont mind.
I know about the research of 40 years but still this is worrying. I know its used for treating severe neurological conditions but im worried about the side effects or if my cognitive ability will fall below the baseline after i stop taking it.
Thanks in advance

Okay thanks
I do have sleep cycle trouble and rarely wake up refreshed maybe piracetam will help with that.
Also maybe you can tell me if it has any sort of effects on the blood. I told him it took a while for me to heal scratches and cuts and he said further evidence that piracetam mite cause negative effects on your blood and bleeding(both in and out of the brain) like make it harder to clot.
I am having an operation very soon and so I was wondering if i should wait until after the op to start.
I also asked the pharmacist after posting this and he didnt know much about piracetam but when i mentioned nootropil he looked it up and said it could cause side effects but if it did you should stop straight away
so I guess thats another question. are the side effect instant or take some time to appear.
Thanks for the help MisterYouAreSoDumb and alot of others on here.I've been reading quite a bit and this stuff is informative.

Piracetam does increase blood flow to the brain. However, the mechanism for that is not that same as something like ginkgo. But I would never suggest taking anything around the time of surgery. I had shoulder surgery twice last year. I made sure to stop ALL supplementation well in advance of it. It's not worth the risk. Even if there is no documented evidence for piracetam causing issues around time of surgery, that does not mean something can not happen. You don't know what kind of anesthetic they will use, or the other things you will be on. It's in your best interest to not have any supplements at least the week before your surgery.
There are many things that could be causing you to heal slowly. Blood work is going to be the only way to know for sure. Has your doctor done any tests to see? I would do that before I had my surgery. You want to heal as fast as possible after any invasive surgery. If there is something you need treated, it should be addressed before they cut into you.
