Best nootropic for enhancing creativity?

Original post in this thread

It seems the majority of you would say modafinil would not help in this area but piracetam will. But I'm curious to hear from those of you engaged in creative activity on your findings. I've always found marijuana helpful in enhancing creativity (esp as a musician) but I'm sick of feeling like a brain dead weirdo after years and years of heavy abuse.

EDIT: I should mention I have experience in mocrodosing psychedelic RCs (4-aco-dmt in particular) with inconsistent results.

Don't rely on cannabis for creativity, it will fuck you over. My theory is that it works in some complex way to make one feel more in tune with the body, but it somehow dulls the mind. The illusion of creative thought is brought on by the temporary stimulation of the higher cortical areas, but like any drug you don't want to pretend that effect is good for you or helpful or makes you better than you are sober. The first step is to seriously consider cutting down or temporarily quitting until you feel like you want to make the decision to start again as opposed to continuing a habit, then work on maintaining a good solid sleep schedule, every day, and exercise if you can first thing in the morning. Eat well, get basic vitamins, meat and vegetables, cut sugar, preferably cut a lot of simple grains and starch if you can (and don't replace with too much protein, good fats are nootropics themselves. Check out coconut oil, and good grass fed butter and beef). Read interesting books, get a hobby, meet people by accident, but don't think you don't have to change anything in your life and someone can give you the name of a chemical that will give you something you desire.

Having done my party pooping spiel, I do recommend (ar)modafinil, it will help regulate sleep and give you appropriate levels of energy for the day as long as you titrate your doses and use it all around respon…

Marijuana down-regulates NMDA receptors chronically. That is why it dulls the mind over time. However, it does not do it acutely. So if one were to use it every so often, in creative settings, it can be useful. It's just getting that person to not chronically use it that is the problem.

I think /u/silverhydra was working on possible ways to mitigate the NMDA effects of marijuana, but that was a few months back.

Lately this subreddit has been turning into "Modafinil and Me." This is a place to advance our knowledge of all nootropics, not simply beat the latest popular one to death. I understand that many of you have questions ab

The results from our latest round of testing are in. We all had a pretty good idea that the Bacognize would fair well, as Nootropics Depot's tests showed. However, we now have 3rd party results confirming it. * Lead- .0

It's time to have the Modafinil talk again.

It's been seven months since I made this post: http://www.reddit.com/r/Nootropics/comments/199n7l/modafinil_posts/ We had a lull in the modafinil posts for a while, but now they are back in full swing. I just want to re

Here to warn the community that I've experienced debilitating rebound anxiety when taking l-theanine. It was 100 percent this substance. Quit a week ago and back to baseline. Theanine is going in the trash.
