You guys need to get organized.

So far as I can tell, this is mostly a collection of random experimenters, willing to try odd compounds and kind of report back claims of efficacy. To the average noobe, this is a little better than asking the random drunk guy at the bar that happens to be just knowledgeable enough about nootropics to sound authoritative...mostly because no one else is knowledgeable enough to refute BS claims from said drunk guy.

Yes, we need to do our own research. But what about all the research (presumably you have done it yourselves right?) that's sitting haphazardly in everyone's collective brains?

What use is it there if there is no consensus as to what really works vs what some of you think really works, vs what's buried in unreadable abstracts in pub med?

Yes, I'm being slightly provocative. My question boils down to what's the process towards consensus building?

It would be pretty fucking cool if /r/nootropics started behaving more like /r/askscience in MHO.

EDIT: Wow, I didn't expect so many responses. I've gotten some pretty tough pushback and understandably so since admittedly I kind of asked for it. I realize that perhaps I poked the su…

You're just going to stop posting? Other people will still talk about your great offerings. If you really want stagnation, discontinue all of Ceretropic's current offerings and only sell a "proprietary blend of L-theanine + caffeine".

Of course I am not going to stop posting. This thread just hit a nerve last night. Now I think the people should go eat a bag of dicks. I've had a ton of PMs thanking me for what I do. If I help just one person, that is worth being called a sellout. Plus, look what I have done, and am going to do. I am excited!

New Vendor Launch! www.ceretropic.com

The time has finally come to launch our nootropics site! For those of you that don’t know, a fellow Redditor, /u/guacamolium, approached me a while back. He was interested in starting a nootropics vendor, and thought par

What is the best nootropic for someone looking primarily for a boost of energy and motivation that's stronger than caffeine but less extreme than amphetamines?

6mg of melatonin is too much. I take .5-1mg. Melatonin has been shown to be much more effective at lower doses. Lower your dose and see how that works. 6mg would mean a very hard time waking up, and hours of foggyness in

Natrium Health releases two new stacks, including interesting caffeine/stimulant blend

Replying to EnLilaSko · Kinda disappointed to see a proprietary blend.

I wrestled with that one for a long long time. I don't blame you for being disappointed. The vast majority of the products we are releasing are not going to be proprietary. However, the Alcohol Defense definitely needed

A word on caffeine + l-theanine

Replying to AoE-Priest · Both interesting studies. The first one actually also showed some anti-nootropic effects of theanine as well, but overall both studies seem to be suggestive of at least minor syner

L-theanine is certainly anti-nootropic for me, unless I am using much stronger stimulants than caffeine. Everyone's GABAergic system is going to vary. Mine has seen some things. I can take all sorts of stimulants, and be

Anyone else take L-theanine every day?

Replying to zpkmook · You could say the same for most drugs. It is new in it's isolated concentrated form. Plenty of people think that it could be dangerous in the high dose ranges because they have not

You can't really say that about most drugs, though. Not much has been used more than caffeine, L-theanine, and alcohol across human history. Also, it's not new in its concentrated form. It was discovered in 1949, and fir
