Anxiolytic-like effects of mitragynine in the open-field and elevated plus-maze tests in rats (2014)

It would be extremely difficult to synthesize. I'm actually surprised nobody really offers (pure, ≥98%) mitragynine obtained via extraction.
The reason why I'm surprised there isn't a vendor offering it: Kratom literally grows on trees. A simple acid-base extraction would work. I've seen estimates of .05 to 1.5 % of mitragynine by leaf weight, which isn't bad.

There are extracts out there. The issue I have with them is that people report tolerance buildup happening super fast with the extracts. This makes sense. Just look at the opioid affinities of mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. There are NMDA receptor antagonists in the plant that balances out the tolerance buildup, as well as a bunch of other substances that could alter the effects. I really want to spend some more time exploring them all. I think the plant could have massive uses.
