Proprietary Blend or Dosage Transparency?

Original post in this thread

A friend and I have designed a nootropic supplement we having great success with. We are moving towards commercialization but have been debating whether to label it as a "proprietary blend" or list out the exact dosage of each ingredient in our formula.

The proprietary blend route is usually done to protect trade secrets but we have noticed a trend where people are becoming more attuned to what is actually in a product.

So what do you guys think, proprietary blend or dosage transparency?

What they were answering

it feels dishonest when youre trying to sell your product to the same communities that you used to research your "blend."

That's a damn good point. It is like the CILTEP BS. They used the open discussions on Longecity to come up with that. They did not spend millions of dollar researching this blend in the lab. They used a community to come up with a new way to achieve a goal. The community deserves the knowledge just as much as Abelard does.

I came up with our Super Rhodiola formula. That was even against the popular notion that rosavins are active. However, the ingredients are right on the bottle. There is 10mg of both salidroside and tyrosol in each dose. I even explained the way I came about that mixture. The community deserves to know exactly what they are taking, and have all the information required to make an informed decision about what they put into their bodies.

Proprietary blends, with all the pseudo-scientific BS marketing that comes with them, are a huge part of why nobody takes us seriously. There is so much useless and unproven bullshit out there, that people automatically see it as snake oil. That permeates their view of the entire nootropic community. "I tried Alpha Brain once. It did not work. So all this nootropic stuff is BS." I see people think that all the time, because of these stupid proprietary blends. Now we have bullshit like Alleradd and Optimind. They have fucking GABA as an ingredient for fucks sake!

Sorry, but I am sick of all this entitled crap that people spew. Ohh you had a good idea about a mix of things that people use all the time? That's not a fucking trade secret! Let's just patent everything. Everything that cannot be patented, let's just keep a secret. Money is more important than advancing our collective knowledge of how to enhance ourselves...

Has anyone tried Excelerol? I'm interested in trying it because it is apparently one of the best nootropics out there, but I'm a bit suspicious because I've never heard anyone talk about it on this subreddit.

Super Rhodiola?

Replying to cryptohasan · Yes, that was the one that popped up when I researched. I haven't tried it or the plant extract. I just want to know which one would yield better results (aka is stronger). I'm not

We renamed it Salidrosol, and moved it over to Natrium Health. Ceretropic is no more, unfortunately. We shut that down earlier this year. It's the same formula, though. We just renamed it for legal reasons. The idea beh
