Observations on vitamin D3

I just wanted to share something that I believe is helping my focus and motivation. I have had some success in improving my focus and energy with other nootropics, however I was surprised that after adding D3 I found the motivation to get moving.
This time of year I have frequently struggled with seasonal affective disorder, this seems to help clear the fog and get me on track.
Just wanted to share and see others have had similar experiences.

Vitamin D is produced by your skin from sunlight (UV), can accumulate in fat, and some dopamine neurons have receptors for it. I have a pet theory that maybe the brain uses vitamin D as a form of estimation of when is winter/summer, and tries to adjust your level of activity in consequence. Basically, in cavemen days, it would have been adaptive not to run around as much in winter, to be a little depressed.
I now supplement with a 5000UI capsule every day. Not trying to promote here but if anyone is curious, the brand is "woohoo naturals", capsules of this potency are hard to find. Vitamin D3 has been shown by many studies to have a wast amount of beneficial effects. It's definitely worth trying if you struggle with seasonal depression, lethargy, lack of motivation.
However, it seems the body might also use light and melatonin production to gauge what time of year it is. I definitely feel much more energetic on sunny days. Working on lighting up my room with cold white LEDs, which seem to have a stimulatory effect on me as well.

5000IU capsules are not hard to find. There are even 10,000IU ones out there. Many brands carry that potency.
