Cerebral Health Pyritinol (New Test Results)

Original post in this thread

We have finally identified the substance that Cerebral Health was selling as pyritinol, which has sent one person to the hospital, and caused adverse reactions in half a dozen other people so far. The results are very surprising, as I never would have guessed it. It turns out the substance is diphenhydramine, also known as Benadryl. Diphenhydramine has anticholinergic and serotonergic effects, and has been known to cause seizures in higher doses. So essentially people were overdosing on a deliriant. You can read reports of people taking large doses of it online, and it does not seem like a very pleasurable experience.

Here are the spectra results.

So far Cerebral Health has not taken any steps to address the issue. I've gone back and forth with the owner Doug on Longecity for a while now, and the exchange has pretty much been a PR disaster for him. Not only has he been rude and dismissive, but he has threatened myself and the lab manager of the first lab we used to do the testing with litigation. On top of that, he insulted the lab managers education, and generally has been a total asshole throughout this whole incident. It's definitely not the…

It's done with 3rd party substance testing where nootropic companies post legitimate, verifiable COA's on each batch that they order. The COA's from China, India, Thailand, etc. can easily be faked.

The first line of defense for a nootropic company (which is NOT sufficient BTW) is to compare the physical characteristics of the batches prior. If your new shipment of aniracetam is purple and granular while being readily soluble in water, then obviously it's not aniracetam and million dollar nuclear magnetic spectrometers aren't going to be needed to verify the difference.

Nootropic users should be in tune with that as well. "Why does this look and smell different than the last batch?"

I think he is saying that an organization should be started that does the 3rd party testing at random, and then certifies the vendor. It could be paid for by donations, or by simply doing fees like the BBB or GMP.

Third party testing was said to be unnecessary for synthetic supplements.

My support team was incorrect in that response. We absolutely do heavy metals testing on synthetics. Not that we ever find anything wrong on that front. Synthetics almost never have heavy metals present in any meaningful

Thoughtfoods.co.uk finally provides a CoA for their Aniracetam - legit or not?

No 3rd party lab makes COAs like that. That is a supplier COA. You have already seen that it is a Chinese company. That's who they got their Aniracetam from. Thoughtfoods does not do their own testing, and people should

They may have just not updated them on the site, or they may have not run testing on recent batches. You'd have to ask them to know for sure. You could also call Colmeric Analyticals and ask when their last testing was.
