Why do I feel so serene when I am "coming down" from MDMA

Original post in this thread

I feel long periods of emotional clarity combined with a willfulness that I normally lack.

Does this happen to anyone else? What about while on other substances? The initially "high" is not as appealing or enjoyable as this ability to efficiently use my feelings.

I have had "afterglow" from both. Afterglow isn't really a chemical process imo, its a perspective that you witness and then over the next few weeks you can decide to accept it or not.

Some people choose to accept the new perspective and they begin to change their lives

Other people choose to do the opposite

Exactly. The chemical process makes it more likely. However, you are still in control of whether or not you feel it. Set and setting are the most important part of drug use. Whether that's MDMA or LSD. I've even had bad MDMA trips because I was in a bad mood to start with. Your brain is the one that is really in control.
