Why do I feel so serene when I am "coming down" from MDMA

I feel long periods of emotional clarity combined with a willfulness that I normally lack.

Does this happen to anyone else? What about while on other substances? The initially "high" is not as appealing or enjoyable as this ability to efficiently use my feelings.

The only times you have had afterglows was when you mixed in LSD? Perhaps you are equating an LSD afterglow with an MDMA afterglow. I've never tried LSD, so I cannot personally comment on the subjective differences between the two. However, many people say that an LSD afterglow is really great.
