Himalaya Brand Bacopa

Original post in this thread

Since there is a lot of concern over the heavy metal content in different Bacopa brands, I thought that I would write Himalaya and ask for the COA for their Brahmi (Bacopa) product. I sent them an email asking for it, and got an automated response asking for my personal contact details. I ignored it, as it was just an automated message. Then I got an email directly from their customer care asking for my name, address, telephone number, and date of birth. I politely informed them that information was unnecessary for them to provide their purity levels and heavy metal analysis. They had my name and email address. There is no reason they need my address and date of birth.

They promptly ignored my email, so I sent another. I asked them again for the COA, and let them know that we were discussing it on a forum, and other vendors had already given us their COAs. They have now promptly ignored that email as well. This is concerning me now. Why won't they give me their COA, or at least respond to my emails unless I give them my address and date of birth?

I have since sent them another email informing them that I will be making posts on multiple health supplement sites, recommending that…

I just emailed Planetary Herbals/Source Naturals about their Bacopa Extract and received this reply:

"Our Quality Control Department employs rigorous inspection and testing procedures to ensure all of our products are manufactured to provide 100% of labeled ingredient potencies. In addition, heavy metals content is tested in the raw materials and finished products. These materials are sampled and inspected according to a long list of specifications, including potency, appearance, color, odor, microbial analysis, and texture. We also perform our own organoleptic analysis, thin layer chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography or other analytical means. We always request a certificate of analysis for incoming materials used, and the supplier’s data is compared to our specifications. Source Naturals manufacturing facilities are GMP certified by NSF International.

Regarding a certificate of analysis, I am unable to furnish such documentation to consumers, but a registered retailer of Source Naturals products may issue such a request."

EDIT: I just e-mailed iHerb asking them if it'd be possible for them to request a COA and provide it. Fingers crossed. :)

So in other words, they are lying to you. That is a load of bullshit they are spewing to try and get you to drop the issue. There is no reason that they cannot furnish consumers with COAs, unless they simply don't have them.

These materials are sampled and inspected according to a long list of specifications, including potency, appearance, color, odor, microbial analysis, and texture.

Ohh, I'm so glad you fucking smelled, looked at, and felt the bacopa... When exactly did the smelling detection method become standard for lead analysis? I personally like puting the bacopa between my fingers to analyze whether it has 10ppm or 50ppm lead content. I've gotten really good at it.

The results from our latest round of testing are in. We all had a pretty good idea that the Bacognize would fair well, as Nootropics Depot's tests showed. However, we now have 3rd party results confirming it. * Lead- .0

Most places are shit. I do not trust Swanson. I've used Vitacost before, but I would not say I really trust them. Never heard of Sevenhills Wholefoods. A lot of smaller brands pop up, sell for a bit, then disappear. Seve
