Bacopa Monnieri: The Most Impressive Natural Nootropic?

What they were answering

AdAstraPer5-HT2Ar · 1 points

Exercise boosts the fuck out of me much more than caffeine or nicotine so there's that. I don't think that there is anything else in my stack that would counter it. Bacopa's pharmacology is complex and there are lots of hypothesis as to why that may be (reduced DA firing blockable by 5-HT6r antagonists? reduction in DA spikes through Trph2 increases limiting DA synthesis? Increased activity of cholinergic neurons?) and all of them seem very plausible but I experienced a subjective decrease in motivation when I coadministered Semax. That did not happen when I took Semax alone. But don't take me very seriously, effects were unremarkable enough to be nothing.

I think the most likely explanation is the simple one. Bacopa up-regulates tryptophan hydroxylase, which increases 5-HTP production, which competes with L-DOPA for the aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase enzyme, which lowers dopamine production over time. Taking L-tyrosine with it should help balance that out.
