Amphetamines Tolerance

Original post in this thread

[deleted] · 7 points

I've built up somewhat of a tolerance to amphetamines. It's too expensive to continue.

Amphetamine tolerances are always described as pretty long term, but that's usually in cases of sustained use for years.

I've been using amphetamines for less than a year, not regularly, and only started heavily using them 3 or 4 months ago.

Is my tolerance going to lower at a faster rate than someone who needs the same amount for a similar high but has been taking them daily for years? I use, at this point, 2-3 times a week, and a satisfying high (well, as satisfying as it can get) would require 100+mg's adderall for an afternoon.

I eat probably 65-75% and snort 25-35% of the time if that's important.

Long-term amphetamine tolerance, like opiate tolerance, is NMDA receptor mediated. Unfortunately it is very difficult to lower in a short time frame, as we don't really know the sub-mechanism that controls it. I have some ideas, but nothing concrete yet. The most effective supplements so far have been things like DXM and memantine, which are NMDA receptor antagonists. Other people have tried large doses of inositol with some success as well.

Short-term tolerance is more dopamine receptor mediated. Down-regulation reverses itself on its own, but can be sped up with certain supplements like uridine, sulbutiamine, and CDP choline.

Until we can pinpoint the sub-mechanism that is responsible, time is your best bet for reversal of tolerance.

For uridine?!? Uridine is found in broccoli, walnuts, tomatoes, etc. It's literally found in nature in the monophosphate form! It's as natural as it gets.

Why nobody should use Uridine, in my opinion

The issue is that many people talk about things with a level of certainly that I don't think is appropriate, given the available scientific data. Uridine is certainly involved in cancer, and plays a role in tumorigenesis

If I were taking amphetamine every day, I would absolutely take a few things. * A good magnesium (glycinate if you take at night, or our Micromag for the day) * A good alpha lipoic acid (Na-R-ALA or our OptimALA) * ALCA
