What is the current consensus on ginkgo biloba?

I bought some at Walmart today on a whim after reading an article on how ginkgo biloba can improve cognitive brain function, but I also understand that there has been some recent research to suggest otherwise.
Seeing as how I know little to nothing about nootropics, what has been your guys' experience with the supplement?

As in fish oil causes prostate cancer?
u/MisterYouAreSoDumb · Ceretropic
No, as in a single study correlated prostate cancer to fish oil usage. Correlation does not equal causation. Given the current evidence, I would not be too worried. Humans have been eating fish since the beginning of our history, and Asian populations with high fish intake have some of the lowest prostate cancer occurrences. Just make sure you get a good fish oil that has not oxidized.
