As a person with depression, Modafinil has been an absolute god-send.

This drug completely over rides the fatigue caused by depression.
Basic daily tasks no longer feel like running a marathon!
A mild stimulant with no potential for abuse is what I've been looking for my entire life.

I agree but there are at least some phenomena related to mood such that acting like you're in a certain mood can put you in that mood. For example, forcing yourself to smile, even when not happy, lifts your mood. I've found that forcing myself to act less depressed when I had episodes in the past really did help me out. I agree it isn't a cure-all, but if something helps you change some of your depressive behaviors it may help with the underlying cause as well (depending on what those are, obviously).

Definitely. I just want OP to be careful not to put too much stake in modafinil as a cure.
