young children doing drugs

The other day I met someone who claimed to start smoking weed at the age of four. I'm sure that was bullshit, but it made me think about the ethics of letting children/making children do drugs. What kind of drug do you think would be the best for a child? What do you think psychedelic use such as acid, shrooms, or DMT would do to a child's simplistic worldview? I've never really had a full on discussion about it, except to know that most people say it's wrong.

I mean something like personal intuition. I know certain things about my mother that I can't produce data for you about. Certain activities seem virtuous even though I can't empirically prove or even demonstrate the existence of virtue. Stuff like that. The small subtle parts of life that escape scales and and rulers and notepads.

And I don't disagree with that. I rely on many personal things like that in my life. However, we cannot base societal decisions on that alone. I've had many personal beliefs over the years shattered by truth. If I had been unwilling to accept those facts when they came, I would not be where I am today. We need both to advance.
