This may be foolish, but I was wondering if there were any possible ways of mitigating alcohol harm. Any supplements? Also, I've longtime attempting to gauge alcohol harm in comparison to other substances. Some people say 1 month for MDMA, some 90 says, does alcohol have a similar number to anyone here?

Funnily enough I went to a lecture at my university about the cognitive/pharmacological effects of Ethanol and when I asked about its neurotoxic properties she not only didn't know the mechanism, she wasn't even aware it is neurotoxic. I had to point out cognitive deficits (Korsakov syndrome e.g.) before she clicked.
Anyway this study seems to think Piracetam may be of use: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3891457

Piracetam is definitely useful. However, one should be mindful of it's potentiation. Combining piracetam and alcohol makes me drunk really fast. This is a good thing for nights out, because I save money on drinks. It is unwelcome on weeknights when I want to have one or two beers and not feel tipsy.
