What legitimacy, if any, does this study have which claims that THC can reduce MDMA neurotoxicity in mice?

What are your hesitations regarding the study?
This is a fairly well known effect. THC binds to various cannabinoid receptors in the brain, which has the side effect of lowering hyperthermic responses. MDMA's hyperthermic response is directly linked to it's 5-HT and DA neurotoxicity. This is due to hyperthermia lowering effectiveness of your body's defense system for reactive oxygen species, antioxidants. It also changes the way MDMA is metabolized in your liver. So substances that can help lower or even prevent MDMA induced thermogenesis can absolutely help combat neurotoxicity. The study you linked was speaking specifically to dopamine toxicity, but there are other studies showing THC lowers serotonin system toxicity as well.
