Thinking about switching from Adderal tablets to Modafinil, have some questions...

I have a scheduled doctor's appointment next week, and adderal is helpful but I've always wanted to try modafinil because I hate how adderal/amphetamines give me that tweak-feeling. I also crash pretty hard from it at my regular doses. I was thinking about talking to my psychiatrist to see if I could switch to it, to treat my diagnosed adhd.
some questions I have:
* do you notice the feeling of modafinil, like you do adderal? is it just wakefulness ?
* is it difficult to persuade a doctor into allowing me to try it, since it's not officially for adhd?
* would you guys recommend it?
* I've tried adrafinil in the past, but it didn't really do a lot for me, is that normal?
So, I'm pretty knowledgable of when it comes to Nootrops having done piracetam, and aniracetam in the past, even though that doesn't really have a lot to do with the question. I'm just stating it as background, in case anyone around here has any comparisons.

I cannot comment on the ADHD thing, since I do not have it. However, I am taking modafinil, and have taken various amphetamines. The effects are totally different. It depends on what you want out of it. I personally think that you could get the focus and wakefulness you need with a low dose of modafinil and a good nootropic stack. That would be ideal, since amphetamine tolerance and side effects are a slippery slope.
I doubt your doc would have an issue prescribing it, since he already has you on amphetamines. The prescription cost in the US is going to be very high, though. Maybe you should try ordering a sample pack of generic online first. That is, as long as you are comfortable with that.
As far as adrafinil is concerned, that could be a metabolism thing. You are not going to feel a "rush" like amphetamine though. It's going to be subtle and smooth compared to what you are used to.
