[Quick request]: Suntheanine Bulk Powder Source
Original post in this thread

Most of us have read that Suntheanine is one of the the purest forms of L-Theanine out there.
I'm looking for bulk L-Theanine, but none of the powder sellers that I've seen list their source (and if they do, it hasn't been Suntheanine)
Can anyone recommend a source of Suntheanine bulk powder?
Thank you all for any help!

I've done some more searching, and I've uncovered some more info. It seems as though the new patents that were awarded to Taiyo Kagaku are for mineral formulations in combination with L-theanine, as well as exclusive rights to sell it for specific applicaitons. Source
Taiyo Kagaku Co., Ltd., Japan has been awarded several manufacturing and use patents for Suntheanine®, which they have begun to strictly enforce. The patents cover several applications which include reducing anxiety, suppressing behavior problems of pets, reducing PMS symptoms, promoting relaxation, etc.

So it looks like they own the patents for specific combination formulas and manufacturing techniques, as well as use patents for animal anxiety, women's health, etc. It does not appear that they hold the exclusive rights to the levorotory isomer anymore (if they ever did).
Here is their patent for use of L-theanine in pets.
Here is one for use with sleep.
Here is the main one, combining use of L-theanine with another mineral.
TLDR: Suntheanine is not necessarily any better than other sources. You just cannot combine it with another mineral, or you will violate their patent.
