Redosing MDMA or use Amphetamine

Original post in this thread

Hey /r/drugs,

I know that redosing MDMA increasing the neurotoxicity, so I am wondering if using Amphetamines instead of redosing would be less neurotoxic. Also later redoses mostly bring out speed-like effects, so I am assuming it would be better to just use actual speed.

The Amphetamine in question is pharmaceutical D-amphetamine (Dexedrine). I am going to a big EDM show in around 2 months and probably an after party, so I want to be able to keep on partying.

Thanks :)

Redosing with amphetamine is going to greatly increase the risk of neurotoxicity and receptor down-regulation. This is due to increasing the likelihood that reactive oxygen species will damage your neurons. There is argument as to why, but every case involves hyperthermia. Dopaminergic drugs are a sure way to raise your body temperature, causing antioxidants to be less efficient at protecting your brain. That being said, I still dose amphetamine with my MDMA when I am at a club or festival. I want to dance and that makes me. However, I take lots of antioxidants and make sure to keep my body temperature down. You have to be mindful of your state, and react accordingly. Don't get caught up in the moment and let your temperature rise too much. A study showed that a mere 2 degree Celsius increase in ambient temperature was all that it took to cause neurotoxicity with MDMA. Drink ice water with electrolytes. I bring Emergen-C packets in my pocket, then get ice water at the club or festival to mix it with. Take alpha lipoic acid and grape seed extract as antioxidants. This gives you much more leeway with temperature, since they are awesome antioxidants. And take breaks from dancing. Even if you think you are ok on temperature, take a break at predetermined intervals. Also, set a dosage and time limit and stick to it. Don't be an idiot and 6 hours in decide to take another 100mg of MDMA and 30mg dextroamphetamine. Predetermine a dosage and time limit, THEN DO NOT CHANGE IT!
