By stating you would never participate in those actions you implied that you were morally superior and in doing so indirectly condemned their actions. That's what upset me, that you would consider yourself morally superior to others when you are much better off than them (even if you did rise from the muck as you claim).
So debating an issue with someone else and arguing why your opinion is more logical qualifies as black and white thinking. I don't think that's the official definition but I suppose if you chose to define it as such I am guilty. Although then you would be too by your own definition.
I feel that saying you would kill an animal to save your own life or saying you would be cruel to an animal to save your own life is irrelevant. Having never been in their situation, I feel that I don't have the right to judge them or feel morally superior to them and neither does anyone else. No matter what you think you would or would not do, you never know until you are in that situation yourself and therefore it is self-righteous to state that you wouldn't do the same in a similar situation.
I did not say natural selection would eventually take you. I thought it was implied that if and only if you chose an animal over yourself and your family then natural selection would prune you. However, I suspect that you will not have to make this choice. Also I think that you w…

Nowhere did I say that I was morally superior. It's the same as if I was saying that I would not wear a certain color because I did not like it. I am not condemning the people in question, as I have stated many times. I am merely stating my personal stance. If you are taking my comment as an affront, then it is merely a reflection of your own personal views on morality. The moment when I start saying, those people are scum, I would never do that, then you can chastise me for being holier than though. Text over the internet is very hard to detect tone. In no way was I justifying their demise or saying I was better than them. Any implication otherwise is not intentional.
