Petition Urging Verizon to Drop Contracts Nears 100,000 Signatures

Replying to kevoizjawesome · I already don't have a contract with Verizon. It's called month to month. I just don't get discounted phones anymore, which I think it a fair trade. Their prices for service though

You pay for subsidization of the phone, but don't get the benefit of the phone. How much is your monthly bill? I'm on the new T-Mobile plan. I have unlimited everything, with LTE, for $69/month. Plus, they sold me the Note 2 for $500. So I get a little subsidization, much cheaper…

Sure, I get it. I know I'll have to wait longer for the updates. T-Mobile usually takes a while too. I don't really mind it. I used to, when the Android versions were coming out with new features and getting smoother. Now I am pretty happy with 4.1.2, and don't see myself constan…

Replying to DangJuice · Your Note 2 will still be waiting on T-Mobile to approve any updates sent to them by Samsung. The international Note 2 will get those updates straight to them. Who cares about auto

True, but I could update manually using the Samsung Kies program. I did it with Galaxy S2. I don't plan on using anyone but T-mobile for a while, so I am ok with it. Android 4.1.2 is damn smooth, so I am not constantly looking for latest version like I used to.

'Stop the bullshit' says T-Mobile CEO

Replying to DangJuice · It's still a carrier-branded Note 2 unfortunately. If you're paying that much for T-Mobile branding and bloatware apps, you might as well get the unlocked and unbloated phone.

I can unlock it by making a call to T-mobile any time I want, and the new versions of Android allow you disable built in apps from the Applications section. Also, I get automatic updates and the ability to use HSPA+ and LTE at the same time depending on what is in the area I'm in…

That's not true. I've never seen a cap, nor have I ever heard of one in the US. Who are you referring to?

Yeah, we have a lot of reasonably priced goods and services. Cable TV, internet, and phone services are not part of that. At least we don't have data caps on our internet like Australia and South Africa do. America likes everything unlimited, haha.

'Stop the bullshit' says T-Mobile CEO

Replying to blorg · Not denying it is a good deal, it is. It's just not *that* much cheaper than you can actually just buy the phone outright, and T Mobile keep you (most likely) for another two years

Where do you live? Korea maybe? Unlimited plans on the other carriers in the US are $110-$130/month. $70 is dirt cheap here, especially since they just rolled out LTE today. I just got 30Mbps down and 19Mbps up at the sushi restaurant! It's faster than my home internet. I wish th…

So $500 with no contract and no interest financing was a good deal?

Replying to Stevekixs · That's because he's on a grandfathered plan and he has the cheaper Web. If he had apples to apples what you have he would be paying much more per month. But that is a good price

Yeah, that makes sense now. He renewed his grandfathered plan for 2 years and they subsidized the phone. I could have done the same thing I believe, but I would have payed around $120/month for the plan, plus a new 2 year contract. I chose the new no contract plan and separate ph…

No, this guy got a damn good deal using a grandfathered plan and some haggling with customer retention. I paid $500 for a $650 phone, and amortized $400 of that over 20 months with zero interest. I pay $89 per month with the cost of the phone in there for a new Note 2 with unlimi…

Not anymore with T-Mobile. Also, they did subsidize part of my phone. I called them up and told them I wanted the Galaxy Note 2, but I was not going to pay full price. I've been a customer with them for 8 years, and I told them that would continue if the acquiesced to my request.…

Apple responds to iPhone 5 scuffs, says scratches and chips are ‘normal’

Replying to DeFex · Titanum is stronger and cooler in every way, and scratches can be gotten rid of easy if it's a brushed finish. It would last too long though, apple wouldn't like that.

Well that's all this is about, purely emotional responses. They don't *have* to ask to take it down. However, Islamic leaders would be given more fuel to say that they were not serious with their condemnation if they didn't. Will it make a bit of difference in the extremist's eye…

White House Goes Too Far In Asking Google To Pull Controversial Video

Replying to sophware · I'm dying for some rational justification of why it's OK for the White House to try to censor something, as ugly as it is.

The White House has to at least ask for it to be taken down, so they look like they are condemning it. They are not going to force it to be taken down, but they have to at least ask. It's the responsible thing to do, even if they know Google will say no.
