Due to issues with my last shipment using the free shipping, I decided to try the DHL express.
FYI my last shipment took about 2 months to deliver.
It was painful paying the delivery fee but I didn’t want a hitch this time. Little did I know what awaits me.
I have just been asked to pay $48 in custom duty. Is this the new norm or only seen with DHL?
I have been a ND customer for about 3 years. It’s the first time I’m using DHL. I’ve never had to pay custom duty.
I am working with limited budget, and I hate surprises. This stings really hard.
I guess I will put a hold on any purchase from ND for now. Gotta make do with what’s available locally I guess.

We've considered setting up DDP to Canada, which then we would just assess everything at checkout and remit to Canada for customers. Then the brokerage fees are less, and built into the shipping cost. However, some customers still want to roll the dice and see if the standard mail package gets through.
