Been a year or so since I last ordered from ND and these days it feels like everything is taking longer than usual to arrive, so was just wondering what kind of delivery times people have experienced
What they were answering

While this sounds like a major, major pain - and I would put nothing beyond these draconian numbskulls -
speaking from loads of (horrible) experiences with german customs at least, and knowing my inept government-
I highly doubt they will be willing or able to invest the effort, manpower or money to actually act on that threat.
It seems physically impossible to inspect allmost every package, they would be years behind in a matter of weeks.
Especially with the economy still recovering from the
pandemic and the whole energy-prices debacle I can't see them make the investment into this practice.
And I'd suspect most other european countries are the same.
Or am I missing something here? Are we talking about inspection once a parcel enters the EU, or it's final destination country? How would the former even work?
Don't get me wrong - I'm sure they'd love to do that, and
cash in on loads of import-tax/fees.
But I don't see how they could actually manage to follow
through on that in practical terms.

This is why it has taken this long. These regulations actually passed summer 2021. You are correct in saying they didn't have the manpower or processes to really do anything with it, but all the EU countries have spent the past year and half building up for it. That's what happening in a couple months. They are finally putting things live from their ramp up period.

Actually, this is one reason they pushed up timelines and put resources there. The whole Russian invasion and energy crisis lit a fire under the EU to attempt to fill in the budget shortfall somehow, and they think they can kill two birds with one stone by doing this. They will collect more duties, and it will help control product flow in/out better, so they can monitor sanctioned items better.

Inspection at the point it enters the EU. All the EU countries are coordinating with each other on this. Duties will be assessed based on the destination country, but they might be inspected by a different EU country.
