Choosing when Supplements Seem the Same

Original post in this thread

I've just begun to experiment with the different Rhodiola products to get an energy boost during the day, but I also see that Maca is also said to give you a boost and feedback on L-Tyrocine also relates to mood and energy.

So if I was to take either of these with the Rhodiola, would I feel anything or would they be masked? I guess it all depends on the individual, but is there any point taking supplements that are very similar in what they can be used for?

That's the biggest problem with supplements, and one that many people new to things get frustrated by. You can read all the research you want. You can try to understand all the pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of something to really understand the mechanisms behind it. However, till you actually try something, you will have no idea how you will personally react. For some that is a positive thing. Many people enjoy reading the research to understand how something works, then trying it to feel that mechanism in the real world. For some that is frustrating. Some people just want to take something that will improve their life, and they don't care about the process. What is even more frustrating for many is that sometimes things don't work in the real world the way you think they will by reading the research, or they work for one person really well, but do nothing for you. Throw in the variable of not knowing if that other brand you bought from was really what it claimed to be, and you can see why many people start calling supplements bullshit. We try to help people as much as we can, and streamline things for them, but trial and error is always going to be a big part of it. Many times that means you will have to try a number of things that you don't like till you find that magic combo that works for your body/brain chemistry.

Regarding your specific case, both are really good supplements. I actually find they combine really well together. If you use the 3% salidroside rhodiola it will be more stimulating. If you use the 3% rosavins rhodiola it will be more balanced. I always suggest people try new things in isolation first, to really know how they are affecting you. However, then creating your own stacks really helps things to shine. Combos of things are always going to be able to be more effective than single supplements. The key is finding the right combos and ratios. A combo of rhodiola and maca isn't a bad place to start.

See, this is why I try to explain that we are all so different. For the average person, the crenulata is stimulating. However, some people have paradoxical reactions to things.

So which products are getting the axe?

Replying to anexanhume · Rhodiola Rosea is now endangered, so unless ND changes to a synthesized version like NNB is doing, it may go away.

We are actually working with a company that is cell culturing plants in vats, and Rhodiola is one of them. We think that is the future, if they can bring costs down.
