Disclaimer: I have made a youtube video I am going to link, but I understand not everyone has time to watch so here are the key points :)https://youtu.be/nPMbTun1j1s

1. Herbal supplements, as a class of agents are the #2 leading cause of liver damage. In fact one of the systematic reviews cites a study from a few years ago that 59% of herbal products (sample of 44 products) have plant species not listed on the label - basically the stuff is swapped out.
2. Contamination of heavy metals can be a problem for manufacturers who do not follow safety procedures (poor FDA regulation makes this possible).
3. Unlike drugs, potency/purity is not guaranteed. You aren't necessarily getting what you think you're getting. Melatonin supplements are an example of this.
4. Placebo/nocebo effects can make it easy for companies to cherry pick poorly designed studies and leverage predatory marketing to sell you stuff that might not work.

I know you guys love your supplements here and I myself also love the idea of taking things that can produce a positive effe…
