I see this was discussed a year ago, but has any progress been made toward determining what part of cissus q. is active for pain relief? Should we hold out hope for a ND CQ extract?
I've been taking water/ethanol extract with the hope that it's superior to a methanol only extract but I think the methanol product was more effective.

Interesting. From what I understand (and I may be wrong) of the traditional use, it's just heat and water, more of a decoction than an extract. Probably requires the consumption of a lot of material.
There's a methanol extract I trialed from a company out of Telangana, India that seemed to work the best so far. COA said 5% ketosterols per gravimetry. Company claimed 1% iridoids but that was not mentioned on the COA. They also said ketosterones and iridoids don't show up on HPLC.

The iridoids and some of the ketosterones do have chromophores, and can be seen by HPLC-UV. There are HPLC methods developed for it already, in fact. The others that don't have chromophores can be seen with a mass spec off the HPLC.
