One of the most requested features on our website has been a page that can include our newest and upcoming product releases. While we do have a New Product category, new products would typically be released at random and without warning. However, many of you shop with us daily and we recognize it would be much more convenient if you are able to know when a new product release is coming or if a new product was recently released. In fact, it has been expressed to us many times that having that information may help you and your fellow shoppers decide whether to place an order now or if you would rather wait a few days until our newest product is released.
Introducing "The Newest & Upcoming Product Releases" Page
We have officially launched a new page on our website that we believe accomplishes the above goals. You can…

As the situation was before, we were just putting up products as they were completed. This was upsetting some customers because they didn't even know we would be releasing anything new, and they may have placed their order a day or two before we put the new one up. On our end we were just trying to get things up as quickly as possible, but I understand the frustration about placing an order and then having something new pop up right afterwards. This new system is something we put in place to keep customers more informed about if/when a new product will be released. It's a massive improvement over the existing system of our inventory team just putting the listings like once a batch is complete. Now it will be done in a more controlled fashion, with all the sizes going up at the same time and everyone being informed a new product(s) is(are) coming. However, we still need the flexibility to make last minute changes if something doesn't get completed in time. If we tell people exactly 3 new products are being released in a week, and say exactly which products they are, then we run into a problem with one of them, will we push off the entire release till we can get that third product ready? Will people be upset that we said 3 would be up but we only got 2? This is why we are letting people know that a new product is coming, but we are not locking ourselves into exactly which one(s) it will be. Perhaps we can modify this over time as we iron out the system, and make it flow internally a lot smoother. However, this is a massive improvement for people that are currently just being blind-sighted when new products are being released randomly. The alternative is the system we have now, where products just get put up as they come out of production. I think everyone can agree that is less ideal than this solution. This is an improvement.
This is not a dig at you specifically, but I will say it can be very frustrating for me and my team trying to make incremental improvements for everyone here, but then everyone focusing on it not being the perfect way they envision in their heads. We cannot let perfect be the enemy of incremental change. I know it may not seem like it, but we have insane amounts of processes, procedures, and paperwork that goes into how things operate. When we make a change like this, it affects many departments and many processes. It's not ever just a simple thing. Sometimes we have to set it up a certain way so that it can work with the way our back end processes and procedures are currently set up. We are trying to make it easier for everyone here to plan their orders accordingly, and to give everyone more features and functionality to make their interactions with us easier. We are making constant improvements to things, but I know my team can get very discouraged when they work hard on one of those improvements, but everyone focuses on why it is not perfect. I am not saying don't share constructive feedback. We always appreciate that. However, please remember that my team reads everything posted here. After working long hours on an improvement for everyone, it can really take the wind out of their sails when it feels like everyone just shits on the way it was done. It really does make us hesitant about future changes. We are never going to make things 100% perfect for everyone as they see it. It's just not possible. We have to balance what is feasible with our internal processes, while also balancing the opinions of hundreds of thousands of customers that all think differently. The goal of this program is to let people know that a new product is coming so that they don't place an order and get frustrated when one drops the next day. This is a first step in that improvement. We even had some other features we were planning on releasing today, but everything broke last minute, so we had to remove them. That seems to be par for the course for that last year. Nothing seems to work properly lately or turn out to be easy. However, we are trying to improve things for everyone here.
