Is there a particular reason/some science behind why we take 1 capsule in the morning and 2 capsules two hours before sleep with Magtein?

I am not trying to argue or anything.
Magnesium L-threonate has been amazing for me. But at night, I feel that it pumps me up a wee bit too much. Sometimes I sleep at 8 or 9 pm and wake up at 3:30 am (lucid/somehow rested, funnily enough, but feel a bit lacking in sleep).
I was wondering, can I take 1 in the morning, 1 at noon, and 1 at night? Why the specific regimen as the title says? Can I take the latter two capsules in the afternoon?
I plan to take Magnesium Glycinate in the evenings instead (if possible) to help meet Magnesium targets and have deeper/better sleep (as it is advertised to do).
What are your thoughts?
Thank you very much!

Every bottle I've had, no matter the brand, has had those instructions on them.

It's part of the TMLA (trademark licensing agreement) with AIDP, the distributor of Magtein. They are strict on dosing suggestions and labeling requirements.
