My cordyceps congealed! Any way to rescue it? I haven’t gotten any water in it, I changed out the desiccant packets, but now it’s become a gooey lump. My Red Reishi purchased in the same order is still a powder, stored in the same conditions. What’s going on?

That’s the strange thing- it was stored on a shelf in my kitchen, right next to my red reishi and lions mane, but this is the only powder that congealed like this.
I can only think maybe a drop of water splashed into the jar when the lid was off. I put the jars on the kitchen counter when I’m weighing out the powder, but since it’s a small kitchen there’s no part of the countertop that’s not close to the sink.

That's probably it, then. When a substance is very hygroscopic, or has a propensity to absorb moisture from the air, all it takes is being close to a water source. If you want to store it there, I would recommend putting the jar in a glass container with a rubber seal on the opening. We are in the process of having some HDPE jars made for certain products, which blocks moisture more. However, glass is the best for that.
