Cordyceps as sleep aid

Original post in this thread

Have you had any experience with cordyceps as a sleeping pill? When do you take your cordyceps?

This study says it's supposed to help you sleep:

In another Reddit article, a user has reported on a study saying that cordyceps prevents melatonin production. Unfortunately I cannot find them.

I've been taking Cordyceps for a long time before sleep and always without any problems. Lately, however, I feel that my sleep is not the best anymore. Of course, this can also be due to other factors.

Now I have switched to the morning dosage. But with this one I have the feeling that it makes me tired and unfocused. Maybe this is related to the adenosine content.

I take the product from Orived\*.

I've always thought that coffee prevented cordyceps from working. Recently, I read an article by Misteryouaresodumb in which he wrote that other adenosine receptors are triggered. Maybe he can tell us something about this topic.

Exogenous adenosine will not reach the brain in any meaningful amounts. It is rapidly broken down by adenosine deaminase in the blood. So that's likely not the mechanism. Also, we have figured out that cordycepin and adenosine are not the main active ingredients in cordyceps for the energy/endurance effects. We have tried pure cordycepin before, along with high cordycepin extracts, and we do not feel the characteristic energy/endurance that we feel with our 10:1 or even our 1:1. So we are trying to elucidate which compounds in it are giving those effects. I have a feeling it is a combination of compounds. Perhaps some people naturally have lower amounts of adenosine deaminase, which results in it reaching the brain in higher amounts and making them tired.
