Good option besides the powder?
Also, any clues how stable the active components are in extracts with 50% EGCG? I have some left that's a few years past best-by date.

It's the dose that makes the poison. It's when you go over 800mg EGCG per day that you start to see issues.

From the clinical studies reviewed there is no evidence of hepatotoxicity below 800 mg EGCG/day up to 12 months.
They did say one specific ethanolic extract showed and issue at 375 mg EGCG equivalent, but that was not replicated in other evidence. I take 500mg of a 50% extract once a day with zinc right now. That's 250mg EGCG equivalent. I would not double up or go higher, based on the evidence. However, I am not worried at that dosage level.
