No, scoops are not accurate forms of measurement, and we feel including them promotes the idea that you don't need a scale. That cannot be further from the truth. Accuracy matters. Safety matters. A two cent plastic scoop from China should not be what our customers rely on to accurately measure their powders. Densities vary based on milling size, which can drastically affect how much powder you get. Even in the same batch, one scoop to the next can vary wildly. If you are shooting for 10mg, you might get anywhere from 5mg to 20mg without noticing. Are all the particles you scooped even dispersed? Is there an air pocket? Was it a flat scoop or was the pile heaping? These are all variables that can throw off how much a scoop is giving you. You want your doses to be accurate and consistent. We sell a milligram scale that is only $25. Then you can weigh any powder you buy. It's totally worth it, and definitely needed to ensure dosing accuracy.
That being said, if you want to buy some stainless steel measuring spoons, then use your scale to calibrate dosages for that specific batch of that specific power, that's fine. Then you can use the scoops to dose that powder. Then you know how much that specific scoop is giving you of that batch of powder. That would be the only time I would feel comfortable saying a scoop is okay to dose, because you have calibrated that scoop to that batch of powder you are using it on. I would only do that for things 250mg or higher, though. Even then, weighing on the scale is always going to be more accurate. I weigh every single dose of powder that I personally take. The accuracy and consistency is worth it to me. That way I know I am getting X dose every day, not 100mg one day and 150mg the next. How can you ever be confident in your reactions to things if you are not sure of the dosages?
