Lab Results....Is it legit?

How do labs do odor and taste tests to come to the conclusion it is "characteristic" like it says on the COA? A person actually smells it and tastes it, or is there some more scientific method?
Just wondering because I feel it's a little weird for someone to have to try all these drugs that are being manufactured to ensure they taste correct. I am a bit concerned for that person, especially if they find the drug was not synthesized correctly.

Haha, yes that's generally how it works. Someone in QA/QC is testing it out. My team does it for smell and visual. I sometimes taste certain things. Stuff with higher dosages is not a big deal, but I generally don't taste things that have low effective dosages (25mg or less), as then I might get an effect. But taste is something that needs sampling to really get. I've tasted almost every single one of the products we have ever sold, and I can generally tell many things by taste, smell, and sight alone. I don't expect anyone else on my team to, though. I also very rarely taste anything that has not been tested first in our lab.
