Are you still planning to sell 7,8-DHF?

why do you need a 3rd party lab to confirm? is your in house incapable of doing it accurately? testing stuff is complicated isn't it?

Whenever there is an internal result we are not 100% certain of, we always send off to at least one 3rd party lab to verify. Sometimes we send to two different ones to get their opinions. That's the only responsible scientific approach. If I am not 100% certain of something, I hold things back, then get opinions from other qualified people.
For the 7,8-DHF, we sent off to two separate labs, along with our own internal testing. HPLC retention times matched Sigma's standard, but the NMR did not match. Our FTIR showed there were extra hydroxyl groups in our sample, but many of the peaks matched up. This indicated to me that we were dealing with a very similar compound, but one with more hydroxyl groups. 5,7,8-trihydroxyflavone is the exact same structure as 7,8-DHF, just with one more hydroxyl group. So the HPLC retention times matching, but the NMR not, makes sense. It also matches up with our FTIR readout. So now we are waiting to get qualified 5,7,8-THF reference standards for final verification. If it matches, then we know what it is. If not, then it might be one of the other similar flavonoids.
Testing is very complicated, yes.
